I love February, here in California things are starting to bloom, spring is right around the corner and love is in the air. This months stone Amethyst is one of my favorites and I'm excited to share a little bit about it with you.
Did you know there were points in history where Amethyst was revered as much as a diamond? Ancients used to call this the "gem of fire" because it carries the energy of fire and passion, yet bears the logic of temperance and sobriety.
St. Valentine was thought to have worn an Amethyst ring engraved with the image of Cupid. It's also referred to as the “couple’s stone” and the stone of faithful lovers and gives way to deeper connection and a more soulful union. Wear as an engagement or eternity ring for fidelity, or as a locket to call back lost love.
Amethyst has legendary powers to stimulate and soothe the mind and emotions. It's also been said to prevent drunkenness and overindulgence. Ancient Greeks and Romans routinely studded their goblets with Amethyst believing wine from an Amethyst cup was powerless to intoxicate.
Some ways you can use Amethyst:
To help with insomnia rub an Amethyst counter clockwise on your forehead
Wear an Amethyst at times when you are overworked and stressed to give calming energy
Meditate with an Amethyst to balance the Third Eye, Crown and Etheric Chakras
Or just wear Amethyst because you love it and purple is your favorite color!
